What's the purpose of the site?
Well, simply put, the entire point is to get your writing critiqued in addition to helping out other writers. If you're here to boost your ego, go somewhere else. The community thrives on honest criticism. If you're truthful, you'll fit right in.

Appreciation? Deprication?
This entire system is organized to help our users make and recieve quality responses to their writing. If someone offers you sound advice that helps you out, appreciate them! They get XP and are more encouraged to help you out in the future. If someone decides to trash your work just for the hell of it, depricate their XP.
We leave it to the user's discretion regarding this subject. Don't be a jerk and depricate everyone. People will see your pattern and stop workshopping your writing altogether. On the other hand, don't throw XP at everyone, either.

So... Why exactly do I want XP?
Well, for one thing, if you get high enough, you will recieve 'Moderator' status. This allows you to flag users' writeups that you love, or ones that you feel need attention. These flagged entries will appear daily on the front page. There are quite a few other things in the works. It would certainly be a good idea to build up a nice pool for when these features are added.

What's the point of revisions?
When you revise a writing, all the previous workshop comments are deleted. The users who commented on the writeup before are then notifed that there has been a revision ("Recent Revisions" on your right sidebar), allowing them to revisit your writeup.

Watching?
If you run accross a user whose work you enjoy, you have the option to 'watch' them. By clicking "Watch This User", they are added onto your list at the right side of your profile. By viewing your watched list, you are able to see the latest writeups of everyone on your list in one convenient location. This not only saves time, but allows you to navagate through the site easier and find new users.
